that’s just not okay

Many of you know that one of my biggest pet peeves is when businesses purposefully and irrationally misspell words in their company name. It’s to the point where I kind of just want to avoid the business altogether. The most frequent use of this incredible marketing strategy seems to involve replacing all Q’s and C’s with K’s. One local companies that has implemented this tactic is Kars of Kary. Seriously. Every time I drive by the place I think my blood pressure goes up a few notches. I mean do you really need to spell both of those words with a K to differentiate yourself? Maybe I’ll even give you Kars. It’s terrible and makes me want to throw rocks at you, but I get it, you’re trying to be a little “wacky” and get people to remember your name, but you can’t just go around changing the spelling of an actual municipality for the sake of your business. I mean as annoying as he is, even Mark Jacobson didn’t actually rename his business Toyota of Duwam.

Entry filed under: nerdiness.

[…] It’s a marketing ploy – I get it. I just hate it. I could go on and on, but she’s already done so. My blood pressure rose just now just thinking about […]
